Re-hammering the Bechstein

The positition of the strings is being recorded on a hammer-jig. When the new hammers are glued on, these markings are used to align the whole set into their proper positions.

Getting the position along the shank (the long thin bit). In this case, the first three hammers are being aligned with a hammer from the old set - the 4th one along. I've already got the hammer at the far end is place, and the rest of the hammers can be glued in line with these samples.

The soprano, alto and tenor sections are or, next the bass - the old ones are still in place.

Changing the low volume modern hammers over to the re-introduced original profile hammers, which also have denser felt.
